This tutorial introduces the concept of integrating climate change adaptation into water resources.

The impacts of climate change can be observed through water scarcity or abundance, which in turn has serious consequences for other key social and economic sectors such as health, agriculture, energy and infrastructure. In order to plan for climate change adaptation, it is therefore necessary for these sectors to take into account their relationship with water resources.

Who should take this tutorial

  • The general public and practitioners interested in gaining a better understanding of the cross‑sectoral linkages between water resources and climate change.
  • Policy‑makers who wish to deepen their understanding of the role that an integrated water resources management approach can play in supporting adaptation across sectors and how it can serve as an entry point for their National Adaptation Plans.
  • Policy‑makers and experts participating face‑to‑face in the National Adaptation Plan Global Support Programme (NAP‑GSP) activities on “Integrating climate change adaptation into water resources”.

This tutorial is a learning initiative of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), developed as part of the National Adaptation Plan Global Support Programme (NAP‑GSP).
