SAI Belarus Took Part in Financial Security Events

In October 2022, a delegation of the SAI of Belarus took part in a meeting of the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units of the CIS countries.

The meeting was held within the framework of the II International Financial Security Olympiad at the Educational Center “Sirius” in Sochi (the Russian Federation). 

The focus of the financial intelligence units is the fight against terrorist financing, including the suppression of the use of non-profit organizations for illegal purposes. 

Participants of the event discussed the measures to minimize the risks of criminal use of new technologies, in particular, cryptocurrencies, and came to the conclusion that it is necessary to create registers of cryptocurrency exchanges and wallets, which will later facilitate the process of conducting financial investigations. 

The results of the first meeting of the expert group on the review of the Agreement on the Establishment of the International Center for Risk Assessment of Legalization (Laundering) of Proceeds from Crime and Terrorist Financing were also discussed.
