AFROSAI-E Continues to Implement Gender Policy in SAIs Activities
Since 2020, the African Organization of English-speaking Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI-E) has started activities to promote the topic of gender equality in SAIs’ activities. The goal of the AFROSAI-E Gender Policy is to increase the capacity of SAIs to further conduct audits that promote gender equality.
The first step in implementation of the initiative in 2020 was the creation of a video on gender equality resources.
Later in 2021, AFROSAI-E conducted a gender assessment of the activities of SAIs. Problems were identified regarding the lack of appropriate strategies, as well as the lack of technical, financial and human resources to implement the gender strategy.
The third step in the initiative was to hold an online seminar on gender equality, which took place on September 21, 2021 with the participation of 130 representatives.
