Multi-Stakeholder Consultative Workshops on Extractive Sector Accountability in SAI Gambia
A series of multi-stakeholder consultative meetings on extractive industries accountability was held in SAI Gambia, co-organized with the representatives of the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions of English-Speaking Countries (AFROSAI-E).
The theme of the training was “Extractive Industries Accountability in the Gambia”. The training seminars were attended by representatives of the National Assembly of Gambia, government agencies, private mining and oil companies, and civil society.
The week-long forum was led by representatives of AFROSAI-E, SAIs of Uganda and Malawi and consisted of series of panel discussions aimed at identifying possible risks in the extractive industry sector of Gambia.
In addition, participants learned in detail about key mechanisms of functioning of State institutions, legal and institutional frameworks, and mechanisms and accountability in the extractive sector.
