The 2026 European Court of Auditors Summer School: Auditing in a new world disorder

From 9 to 12 June, the 6th European Court of Auditors Summer School was held in Valletta at the University of Malta. The event brought together more than 120 participants, including representatives of SAIs of EU member states, public authorities and academia.
The agenda focused on changes in the architecture of EU budgetary governance and audit practices amid new geopolitical and macroeconomic challenges. Participants discussed the prospects for the development of performance audit in the context of growing public attention to the results and long-term impact of public measures. It was noted that SAIs should focus not only on preparing findings, but also on supporting management decisions that contribute to meaningful change.
