SAI Brazil Presented a Model Combating Harassment

SAI Brazil organized webinar, where the ways to combat sexual and moral harassment were discussed.

The event presented reports on initiatives implemented in institutions such as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

SAI Brazil presented a model for preventing harassment and ways to deal with it. According to the authors of the project, the Model can become a guideline for future audits.

The Brazil model consists of four mechanisms that can be applied in public institutions as a way to reduce harassment and discrimination, as well as serve as a benchmark for assessing the maturity of organizations:

1. Institutionalization – Participation of senior management in the implementation of a system for preventing harassment and ways to deal with it.
2. Prevention – Establishing a structure to prevent harassment, training employees on how to respond when harassment is suspected.
3. Detection – Organizing an information channel for receiving complaints, taking proactive measures to identify possible cases of harassment.
4. Correction – Prompt response to incoming complaints, punishment of those responsible, application of conciliatory measures and adjustment.
