Statistics on the Popularity of Online-Courses in the EU by EUROSTAT

The European Statistical Agency (EUROSTAT) has published statistics on the popularity of online learning, timed to coincide with the International Day of Education, which is celebrated on January 24.

Online courses are a convenient way to learn something new or deepen your knowledge in a particular topic, improve your professional skills or rest.

According to the European Statistical Agency, in 2022, 26% of European Union (EU) residents aged 16-74 completed at least one online course or used online training materials. The highest demand for online education was observed in Finland (50%), Spain (42%), Sweden and the Netherlands (40%). The lowest rates were recorded in Romania (8%), Bulgaria (11%) and Poland (15%).
