Digital audit practices discussed at the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group

On 16–19 June 2026, the 51st Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group were held in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan. As part of the official programme, a session entitled “Digital Public Audit for Sustainable Regional Integration” took place. The event was organized by SAI Azerbaijan. Delegates included representatives of the SAIs of the People’s Republic of China, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea, Türkiye and Uzbekistan.
- Kim, Chief Researcher at SAI of the Republic of Korea, presented two complementary information systems – “Baron” and “AuditTalk” – covering the full audit cycle and enabling audit processes to be significantly accelerated.
- Usman, Chief of Staff at the Office of SAI Pakistan, emphasized that traditional methods are not sufficiently effective in complex digital ecosystems and noted the need to develop reliable digital accountability platforms to strengthen trust.
- Li, Director of the Electronic Data Audit Department of SAI China, spoke about legislative changes and the introduction of audit with elements of artificial intelligence.
- Jamalov, an expert of SAI Uzbekistan, presented three key information systems of the institution: “Remote Audit”, “State Audit” and the “Audit Management System”.
- N. Bilgin, representative of SAI Turkey, presented the “VERA” platform as an automated control tool and emphasized the importance of the proper data format and the reliability of data sources for obtaining accurate results.
Following the session, participants noted that innovation plays a crucial role in shaping the future of public audit, while further expanding cooperation among SAIs is an important condition for successful digital transformation.
