Prize for the Best Performance Audit Report Awarded to SAI Uganda
The Office of the Auditor General of Uganda was awarded the Best Performance Audit Report Prize for 2023 within the AFROSAI-E region. The prize was announced and awarded by the Auditor General of Sweden, Ms Helena Lindberg.
The prize encourages the development of performance audits in English-speaking Africa. It was initiated by AFROSAI-E in 2008 with the support of the Swedish National Audit Office. The Swedish NAO heads the independent international jury that selects the winner.
Seven reports from the Supreme Audit Institutions of Gambia, Namibia, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda were nominated for this year’s competition.
The winning report, entitled “The Government of Uganda’s Progress in Providing Equitable and Affordable Access to Education Services for Learners with Special Needs, in accordance with SDG Target 4.5,” illuminates Uganda’s work on providing equal education for learners with special needs at an affordable price. The report’s conclusions are relevant to the education sector and society at large.
The audit team behind the winning report is offered a study visit to the Swedish NAO to exchange knowledge and experiences with Swedish peers.
