SAI Czech Republic hosted the sixth annual public administration hackathon, which was attended by 54 students-winners of regional hackathons.
The event, organized by SAI Czech Republic, clearly demonstrated how open data can be used to create new applications that help citizens in their daily lives.
This year, 14 teams of students from various educational institutions participated in the competition. Participants worked on projects using datasets from the National Open Data Catalog.
The winner in the category of locally created projects was the “Meui” team with the PodnikGo application, which helps future entrepreneurs analyze business opportunities in the Czech Republic. In the project development category, the first place went to the “NTL-CUP” team with the “Parksense” mobile app, which helps you find free parking spaces in Prague in real time.
In addition, the “Datasort” team took the second place with the “Path to Housing” application, which allows you to compare rental housing with net salary.
This year, 11 institutions provided open data, and a total of 115 people attended the event, including organizers and judges.
