SAI India launched the International Centre for Audit of Local Governance (iCAL). New Centre located in Rajkot, Gujarat, was inaugurated by SAI India in July 2024.
iCAL is envisioned as a centre of excellence dedicated to building the capacity of auditors, elected representatives, and executive officials from Local Governments in India and across the globe. The Centre provides training programs that focus on emerging challenges in Local Government audits, governance practices, and transparency.
After the ICISA (International Centre for Information Systems and Audit) and ICED (International Centre for Environment Audit and Sustainable Development) which are established as international capacity building institutes having a successful track record of 22 and 11 years respectively by SAI India, now iCAL is designed to be a collaborative platform where auditors from SAIs can come together to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices in auditing Local Governance. With a special focus on audit innovation, service delivery and social audits. iCAL aims to contribute significantly to the global effort of enhancing accountability at the grassroots level.
The various capacity-building programs for auditors and officials will be ofrered offered by iCAL in the near future. These programs will be tailored to meet the unique needs of Local Government auditing and will provide your auditors with the tools and knowledge necessary to enhance the effectiveness of their audits.
