The Accounts Chamber of the Republic of Uzbekistan (SAI Uzbekistan) held a seminar at Tashkent State University of Economics for the faculty of higher education institutions and representatives of legal organizations. The event focused on the reform of the public audit system and the digital transformation of SAI Uzbekistan’s activities.
During the seminar, it was noted that since 2017 SAI Uzbekistan has functioned as the supreme body of external public audit and financial control. The adoption of the Law “On the Accounts Chamber of the Republic of Uzbekistan” in 2019 legally established its status, independence, functions and powers, while subsequent reforms enabled a transition from traditional inspections to modern types of public audit.
Since 2022, SAI Uzbekistan has introduced financial audit, compliance audit and performance audit into its practice, based on a risk-oriented approach and international standards. Particular attention is being paid to digitalization, including the use of the State Audit software platform and the Remote Audit information system, which is integrated with 259 databases of 89 ministries, government agencies and banks.
The seminar also presented measures to introduce artificial intelligence in public procurement, develop automated analytical modules, strengthen human resource capacity and apply the International Standards of Supreme Audit Institutions (ISSAI).
Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, a Higher School of Public Audit is planned to be established at Tashkent State University of Economics. It is expected to become a specialized platform for training qualified professionals in the field of public audit.
